"Capturing the Light" watercolor workshop with Lynn Ferris (AWS,NWS)
Good use of light and shadow can change a painting from ordinary to extraordinary. Using a limited palette, students will learn to design with light, create glowing shadows, recognize light sources, and bring drama and luminosity into their work. Lynn provides handouts, reference materials and lots of personal attention.

Materials List – Lynn Ferris Watercolor Workshop
PAPER: Good quality paper is essential. I recommend Arches 140lb cold pressed.
PAINT: Bring whatever colors you are currently working with, however your palette needs to include:
Alizarin Crimson
Phthalo Blue (also known as winsor blue, green shade)
Cadmium Yellow Light
Thalo Green (any brand other than Cottman)
Optional colors (nice to have but not required):
Cadmium red medium
Cobalt blue
Permanent rose
Burnt sienna
Whatever you are currently painting with should be fine. If you are purchasing new brushes, a #14 round is a very useful size. I like a "John Pike" style palette, but a couple of divided foam "paper" plates can substitute as an economical temporary choice.
Drawing pencil (regular number 2 is fine), straight edge, masking tape, container for water, paper towels, eraser, tracing paper, hair dryer (if you have one – we will need a couple), masking fluid (optional) If using masking fluid, a rigger or script brush is helpful.
  Age Restriction: 16+
Cost: $75. To register: Contact Lynn Ferris email:
