More Than Meats The Eye
Off Track Art Gallery features “More Than Meats The Eye,” a father and daughter show with George Maurer and Amber Harte Maurer Farran from March 1 through April 28. Please join us at 11 Liberty St., Westminster for the opening reception March 9th 4-7 pm with an artist talk about 6 pm.
Recently retired, George was a partner in the family meat processing business, Maurer and Miller Meats in Manchester. Amber grew up in her father’s butcher shop and also on family farms. Both are intimately attuned to the natural environment, local agriculture, artisans, and trades which compete with agribusiness.
George has studied with Barbara Schnell. He is a member of the Carroll Arts Council and has shown at the Annual Members Art Show. Amber won awards at McDaniel College where she majored in Studio Art. She is the Graphic Designer for Carroll County Public Libraries. In January 2014, George and Amber had a show together at the Carroll Arts Center entitled “Meat the Maurers” and have shown at other local venues together.
